KNOW THE NATURE AND CHARACTER OF GOD

Updated: Apr 21

This study on the nature of God will lead us to discover the nature of God revealed by his word which is the Bible. Because we cannot seek to do a study on God and his nature apart from his word which is the Bible.

Biblically, God revealed himself in us through his word which was transmitted to us by the prophets and apostles through the writings that we today call the Bible.

The Bible is the only library in the world to which we can turn if we want to find credible information about God and his nature. Because God explains himself through his word.

Humanly, it is not possible to study and learn about a mysterious being like God except through the information provided by Himself in the Bible.

If you want to study God and his nature apart from his word, you risk falling into magic, witchcraft and deviation from the Holy Doctrine. Because there are no special books for studying God except the Bible.

IT IS WRITTEN IN DEUTERONOMY 29:29

The hidden things belong to the LORD our God; the things revealed are ours and our children's forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

NB: We must be content with the information that is revealed in the Bible, what is hidden and unknown remains for God. And do not seek to know beyond what the Bible does not teach, you risk getting lost in your Faith. Here I just wanted to say let's stay biblical, let's stay in the Bible.

HERE ARE SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF GOD AND HIS NATURE:

Based on the Bible, I select here for you the 20 characteristics and nature of God. which you must know first when you are born again.

By knowing these 20 characters and the nature of God, it will help you learn more about God and build a good and strong relationship with Him. I believe that the more you know God and His character and nature, the more likely you are to build a good relationship with Him.

NB: God is discoverable, you can discover him through this teaching.

1.GOD IS MYSTERIOUS AND UNFATHOMABLE:

God is too big for us to understand, whatever our scientific or biblical research, man will never arrive at a perfect understanding of God in his greatness and nature. God will always remain mysterious and unfathomable because it is precisely this mysterious and unfathomable side that makes him remain God.

Biblically, our God is unsearchable. His thoughts are too broad and deep for us to fully understand.

The verb to probe means to explore, to carry out a careful investigation, to search deeply, as scientists explore the depths of the earth in search of precious metals. God is therefore unfathomable. Humanly, we will never be able to explore the full depth of God.

IT IS WRITTEN IN JOB 11:7-9

Do you claim to search the thoughts of God, To arrive at the perfect knowledge of the Almighty?…

PSALM 145:3

The LORD is great and most to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

ROMANS 11:33-34

Depth of the riches, wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways incomprehensible! For 34Who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?…

As we learn about the nature and character of God, we must understand that God is not confined by our human logic. We must let him be God, be a God who amazes us with his greatness.

Many people demand explanations of God and His ways based solely on their human logic and refuse to believe because they do not fully understand the nature of God. But how can we explain in its entirety the mystery of the Trinity, the two natures of Christ? These things are inexplicable by human intelligence and can only be accepted by faith.

God is incomprehensible, this means that he cannot be rationally understood by scientific and human logic. If we want to systematically study the nature of God and his personality according to scientific or human logic, we will never be able to fully understand God because he is unfathomable.

Let us accept with faith everything God tells us in his Word, even if everything cannot be explained rationally. “we must know that the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing; but for us who are saved it is the power of God”

1 CORINTHIANS 1:18

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

2.GOD IS ETERNAL:

God has neither beginning nor end; he is eternal. This means that it has no origin, no country, no roots, that it has always existed and will always exist. He is an uncreated God who exists on his own.

IT IS WRITTEN IN EXODUS 3:14-15

God said to Moses: I am he who am. And he added: This is how you will answer the children of Israel: He who is called 'I am' has sent me to you. 15 And God said again unto Moses, Thus shalt thou speak unto the children of Israel: The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you. This is my name for eternity, this is my name from generation to generation.

3.GOD IS THE KING OF KINGS

God is the King of kings, literally, He has built his throne in the heavens “the fixed place where he dwells”. and reigns over all the earth. We must therefore approach him knowing that he is the King of kings.

IT IS WRITTEN IN Isaiah 66:1

Thus says the LORD: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house that you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?

1 KINGS 8:43

Hear from heaven, from the place of your dwelling, and grant to this stranger whatever he asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name to fear you, like your people Israel, and know that your name is called upon this house that I have built!

4.GOD IS THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS:

He is the creator of everything that exists in the visible and invisible, the giver of life and the master of the universe.

IT IS WRITTEN IN NEHEMIAH 9:6

It is you, O LORD, you alone, who made the heavens, the heaven of heavens and all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to all these things, and the host of heaven bows down before you.

COLOSSIANS 1:16-17

For in him were created all things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, thrones, powers, dominions, authorities. All was created by him and for him.

PSALM 139:13

It is you who formed my loins, Who woven me in my mother's womb.

5.GOD IS HOLY:

He is holier than we imagine, his holiness is unfathomable. We must clothe ourselves in His holy nature if we want to build a right relationship with Him because He hates sin.

IT IS WRITTEN IN 1 SAMUEL 2:2

There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one but you; there is no Rock like our God.

ISAIAH 6:3

They cried out to one another, saying, Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts! the whole earth is full of his glory!

6.GOD IS SPIRIT:

The Bible says that “God is a Spirit,” which means a form of life invisible to the human eye. It is because of this nature that God remains invisible to human eyes.

You may be wondering how to connect to an invisible God? that you don't see? It’s easy, we are connected to God by faith. It is by faith that you can communicate with God, touch him and feel him in your spirit or all around you.

It is by faith that we can receive anything from God.

Faith is the cable that connects you to God, without faith it is impossible for you to connect to God, talk to him and receive anything from him.

IT IS WRITTEN IN JOHN 4:24

God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

HEBREWS 11:6

Now, without faith, it is impossible to please Him; for he who comes to God must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

7.GOD IS A PERSON:

God is a spiritual being but also a person you can know, communicate with, touch and feel through faith. because we were created in his image and likeness. By creating us, he endowed us with the 5 human senses which allow us to communicate and feel his presence.

IT IS WRITTEN IN GENESIS 1:26

Then God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let him have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over everything. creeping thing that crawls. on the ground.

In Matthew 6:9 and Matthew 18:10, Jesus presents God to us not as a spirit but rather as a father, which means he presents Him to us as a person with whom we can speak and communicate. God is therefore a person, a “Father”. someone we can approach to know and discover his nature, his personality and by studying the Bible, we can learn to discover what type of person he is? its character and nature.

IT IS WRITTEN IN MATTHEW 6:9

So this is how you should pray: Our Father who art in heaven! Hallowed be thy name;

JAMES 4:8

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners; purify your hearts, you who are double-minded.

8.GOD IS OMNISCIAN:

God is omniscient, so he can judge men with perfect knowledge. Because omniscient means he knows everything, nothing can hide in front of his face. He knows the past, the present and the future; he has perfect knowledge of everything that exists.

JEREMIAH 17:10

I, the LORD, test the heart, I search the reins, to reward each one according to his ways, according to the fruit of his works.

9.GOD IS OMNIPOTENT:

He is all-powerful, so he can carry out his judgments without being confronted by any other force.

GENESIS 17:1

When Abraham was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, I am God Almighty. Walk before my face and be blameless.

10.GOD IS OMNIPRESENT:

God is omnipresent, which means he can be everywhere at once.

Please note: God does not inhabit all places, nor even his presence in all places. But in his divine quality he can be everywhere at once, which is why he is called

“Omnipresent GOD”.

It is with this omnipresent nature that he is able to listen to the prayers of all Christians around the world who pray at the same time regardless of the place or country where he is invoked without getting lost in his head and giving the answers to each according to their prayers. And this is something that seems strange and humanly inexplicable, but it confirms once again that he is the true God.

It is to be noted that when we pray, our prayers do not pass through an intermediary and there are no special angels who transmit our prayers to God but God himself directly listens to all the prayers of the saints because we have a direct relationship with him through the Holy Spirit.

Since the world existed there has been no being with this omnipresent nature except the God of the Bible until now he is the only omnipresent God even the devil and his demons do not have this capacity to be everywhere in same time.

The devil can go anywhere or duplicate himself to be in two different places at the same time, but he can never be everywhere at the same time.

IT IS WRITTEN IN Isaiah 66:1

Thus says the LORD: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house that you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?

JEREMIAH 23:24

Will someone be standing in a hidden place without me seeing them? says the Lord. Do I not fill the heavens and the earth? says the Lord.

11.GOD IS A FATHER

God is first our father before being our creator because it is he who begat us and we came out of him according to the definition of the word begets.

Therefore, when we come to Him, we must come as children and not as creatures. For he is a father to us, and when we pray we must invoke him as a father and not as a creator.

IT IS WRITTEN IN MATTHEW 6:9

So this is how you should pray: Our Father who art in heaven! Hallowed be thy name;

JAMES 1:18

He has begotten us according to his will, by the word of truth, that we might be, as it were, the firstfruits of his creatures.

12.GOD IS GREAT

Our Creator God is so superior, great and powerful that we cannot even imagine what He looks like. the human brain does not have the capacity to imagine God in his greatness, his height, his power, his reign, his glory because he is greater than what we can imagine. His greatness is infinite, therefore he is infinitely large.

IT IS WRITTEN IN PSALM 104:1

My soul, bless the Lord! O Lord, my God, you are infinitely great! You are clothed in splendor and magnificence!

PSALM 145:3

The LORD is great and worthy of praise, and his greatness is unsearchable.

1 KINGS 8:27

But what! Would God truly live on earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee: how much less is this house which I have built for thee!

NB: God is so great that no place in the world could contain him because his greatness is infinite. God's throne is in heaven where He resides, and His presence is in us through the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

1 CORINTHIANS 6:19

Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you and whom you receive from God, and that you are not your own?

13.GOD SEES EVERYTHING

He has the ability to see everything and nothing is hidden from his eyes.

IT IS WRITTEN IN JEREMIAH 23:24

Will someone be standing in a hidden place without me seeing them? says the Lord. Do I not fill the heavens and the earth? says the Lord.

14.GOD IS RIGHTEOUS

The God we pray to is a just God, who judges all things fairly and without bias.

IT IS WRITTEN IN PSALM 145:17

The LORD is righteous in all His ways and merciful in all His works. 18The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who sincerely call on him.

15.GOD IS PERFECT

God is perfect, he has no flaws. His will is that we too can achieve perfection in our lives.

IT IS WRITTEN IN MATTHEW 5:48

Therefore be perfect, even as your heavenly Father is perfect.

16.GOD IS INCORRUPTIBLE:

As you draw closer to Him, you must know that He is an incorruptible God who does not tolerate evil.

IT IS WRITTEN IN 1 PETER 1:23

since you have been regenerated, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible seed, by the living and abiding word of God.

17.GOD IS INVISIBLE:

the God we literally pray to is an invisible God, so to approach Him we need faith because we can only see Him, touch Him, smell Him, and communicate with Him by faith.

For those who seek his face, his glory and his power and for those who want to communicate with him, they need faith which is the only element that puts us in contact with him.

God loves faith and He wants us to be able to demonstrate our faith at all times and continue to believe that He is near us even when we feel like He is far from us.

IT IS WRITTEN IN HEBREWS 11:6

Now, without faith, it is impossible to please Him; for he who comes to God must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

1 TIMOTHY 1:17

To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, God alone, be honor and glory, forever and ever! Amen!

18.GOD IS LOVE

Our God is full of love, he loved us before we could love him. God's love is unconditional, he loves us with our faults without judging us.

IT IS WRITTEN IN JOHN 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

ROMANS 5:8

But God proves his love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

19.GOD IS MERCIOUS

He is a God full of grace and mercy. Sometimes He doesn't judge us for our faults, but He shows us His grace and compassion by treating us as if we are worthy of His goodness and favor.

Merciful means that He is ready to forgive the sinner and lift up those in need. He bestows His Grace and freely offers His blessings. He is slow to anger, giving the sinner time to repent.

IT IS WRITTEN IN PSALM 103:8

The LORD is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.

EXODUS 33:19

The LORD said, I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; I show mercy to whom I show mercy, and mercy to whom I show mercy.

JOEl 2:13

Rend your hearts and not your garments, and return to the LORD your God; For he is compassionate and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in kindness, and repents of the evils he sends.

20.A JEALOUS GOD

Biblically, we are free to choose between light and darkness, between life and death, between the Lord and the other gods. But if you choose to make the Lord your God, you must know that He is a jealous God who cannot tolerate idols.

Therefore you cannot mix God with other gods, nor worship another god before his face. You risk arousing God anger against yourself and your house because he is a jealous God.

IT IS WRITTEN IN EXODUS 20:5

You shall not bow down to them or serve them; For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.

NAHUM 1:2

The Lord is a jealous God, he takes revenge; The LORD takes vengeance, he is full of wrath; The Lord takes revenge on his adversaries, He is angry with his enemies.
