INTRODUCTION:
For many years, I have been deeply passionate about spiritual revival in Manchester, and as a prophet in this city, I am aware of the role I have to play in this revival.
As a revival preacher for over ten years, I have prayed tirelessly for a true fire of revival to ignite in Manchester. It is through prayer that I have received this series of prophetic messages. Filled with the Spirit of the Lord, God spoke to me clearly: “Son of man, prophesied over the city of Manchester; for its time of revival has come.”
With these words, I wanted you to understand that this series of messages is not simply a series of teachings, but prophecies through which the Lord speaks to His people and His Church in Manchester.
ACT ONE:
This first series, which I have titled Act One, will be a series of prophetic messages concerning the city of Manchester and the Church of Manchester. Through these prophetic teachings, I share with you what God has revealed to me spiritually, as a prophet for Manchester.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROPHETIC TEACHING?
This series of teachings aims to enlighten the vision of many believers and servants of God, especially those who have prayed for years to see the fire of spiritual revival in this city. It will also show you the path to follow, through your actions and prayers, for a true revival in Manchester.
KEY BIBLE VERSE: (2 Kings 2:19-22)
In this first episode, the Lord leads me to this passage from the Old Testament (2 Kings 2:19-22) to reveal the prophetic parallels and similarities between the city of Jericho and the city of Manchester. Throughout this teaching series, we will use this verse as a foundation to discover what God wants us to learn and understand about the city of Manchester.
SPIRITUALLY, MANCHESTER RESEMBLES JERICHO:
During my prayers for the spiritual renewal of Manchester, I asked myself: Why are most of the churches empty and cold? Why is there no real transformation of lives? Why do true churches struggle to grow in this city? And even those who attend some churches every Sunday don't seem to be progressing; many of them appear to remain spiritually immature, even after many years of practice.
This reveals a problem: the lack of life and growth in some Manchester churches is synonymous with barrenness and death, and testifies to a spiritual phenomenon affecting the city, the spiritual lives of its inhabitants, our local communities, our churches, and attempting to stifle their flourishing.
It was then that the Spirit of God led me to the Bible and revealed to me that, from a biblical perspective, the city of Manchester shares spiritual similarities with Jericho. Despite its favorable geographical location, Jericho was a cursed city, suffering from unhealthy water, a source of death, and barren soil.
Similarly, Manchester, a very large city well-situated in the United Kingdom and Europe, appears imposing and rapidly expanding, but its spiritual state is disastrous: plunged into darkness and lifeless, it is dominated by the forces of evil and witchcraft that seek to stifle the flourishing of true servants of God, true denominations, and true churches.
THE BIBLE ACCOUNT: (2 Kings 2:19-22)
19The townspeople said to Elisha, “The town is well situated, as my lord sees, but the water is bad and the land is dry.” 20He said to them, “Bring me a new bowl and put some salt in it.” So they brought it to him. 21He went to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, “This is what the Lord says: I have purified this water; from now on neither death nor barrenness will come from it.” 22And the water remains pure to this day, according to the word that Elisha spoke.
WHAT PROPHETIC INSPIRATION DOES THIS TEXT REVEAL?
In this biblical passage, we will analyze three elements: The history of the city of Jericho: why was it cursed? The daily lives of its inhabitants and the difficulties they faced. Who is the prophet Elisha, the man God used to lift the curse on Jericho and purify the city?
WHAT IS JERICHO?
Its name, "Jericho," likely derives from the Canaanite word for "moon" (Yariakh), suggesting the existence of an ancient sanctuary dedicated to the moon god.
GEOGRAPHICALLY:
Jericho is a city located in Palestine, specifically in the West Bank, in the Jordan Valley. Nestled approximately 250 meters below sea level, it is among the lowest-lying cities in the world. It is one of the most famous cities mentioned in the Bible and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities, with evidence of occupation dating back approximately 11,000 years.
UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE:
Often considered the first urban settlement in human history, this ancient city is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also known as the "City of Palms," it enjoys a subtropical climate thanks to its permanent water sources and lush agriculture in the heart of the desert.
A VERY POPULAR CITY:
The city of Jericho is well known to Christians today because of the story of the mysterious destruction of its walls during Joshua's conquest of Palestine. In the Old Testament, the account of Joshua's capture of Jericho is emblematic. It is said that the city walls collapsed to the sound of trumpets after the Israelites had circled them seven times.
In the New Testament, it was in Jericho that Jesus is said to have healed a blind man and met Zacchaeus. And it was on the Mount of Temptation, located just above the city, that Christ is said to have fasted for forty days.
WHY WAS THE CITY OF JERICHO CURSED?
According to the biblical account, the city of Jericho was considered cursed until the time of the prophet Elisha, primarily because of the solemn oath sworn by Joshua after its complete destruction: “during the conquest of the land of Canaan.” This curse rests on two fundamental aspects:
1. THE STATUS OF ANATHEMA:
The curse that befell Jericho stemmed mainly from its status as anathema: during the conquest, Jericho was declared “consumed by the Lord” (Joshua 6:17). This consecration to God (anathema) meant that the city and everything in it now belonged exclusively to God. The city and everything in it were considered “holy to the Lord,” that is, set apart for God. Therefore, its inhabitants had to be exterminated because of their extreme wickedness, idolatry, and rebellion against God.
2. THE PROHIBITION ON REBUILDING:
After razing the city, Joshua pronounced a formal curse against anyone who would attempt to rebuild it: “Cursed before the Lord be the man who dares to rebuild this city, Jericho! If anyone dares to rebuild it, let him lay its foundation at the cost of his firstborn son, and its gates at the cost of his youngest son!” (Joshua 6:26).
WHY SUCH SEVERITY?
It is indeed very complex to understand the profound motivation that led the man of God, Joshua, to pronounce the curse on the city of Jericho. According to some interpretations, God wanted these ruins to remain a permanent testimony of his judgment on the Canaanites' impiety and of his power manifested by the fall of the walls.
Furthermore, by cursing any reconstruction, Joshua ensured that Jericho would remain a testament to divine power rather than reverting to a human fortress. Thus, according to the biblical account, Joshua cursed Jericho primarily to make it a permanent testimony to God's victory and to mark its total destruction as an exclusive offering to the Lord (the anathema).
Some commentators explain that this curse followed Moses' instructions to destroy cities practicing idolatry. The ruined and cursed city of Jericho served as a stark reminder to the wicked of the consequences of rebelling against God.
Other interpretations suggest a symbolic rupture: Jericho represented the first fortified barrier leading to the Promised Land. Its final destruction thus symbolized the passage from slavery to the freedom offered by God, forbidding any turning back.
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is also worth noting that biblical curses pronounced by God's servants often have a prophetic dimension. This curse was indeed fulfilled centuries later, during the reign of Ahab, when a man named Hiel of Bethel attempted to rebuild the city and lost his two sons, in accordance with the word of Joshua.
THE PRICE OF REBUILDING JERICHO:
The Bible reports that this prophecy was literally fulfilled centuries later, during the reign of King Ahab. A man named Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho and lost his eldest son, Abiram, during the foundation work, and his younger son, Segub, during the installation of the gates (1 Kings 16:34).
THE ROLE OF PROPHETICS IN THE RESTORATION OF JERICHO:
After the destruction of Jericho by Joshua, the city was rebuilt centuries later by a man named Hiel of Bethel, during the reign of King Ahab. It became habitable again, but the curse pronounced by Joshua continued to weigh heavily upon the land and waters of Jericho, bringing death and barrenness. This situation persisted until the prophet Elisha, sent by God, lifted the curse by purifying the waters of Jericho and declaring the land healthy, healed, and fertile in the name of the Most High.
The story of the prophet Elisha, the purifier through whom God lifted the curse on Jericho, teaches us that spiritual well-being cannot be restored without prophetic acts. These acts are essential for rebuilding broken foundations and countering the curses that afflict lands, cities, nations, and individuals.
The key biblical verse concerning deliverance by a prophet is found in Hosea 12:13-14: “It was by a prophet that the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet that Israel was preserved.”
This verse highlights the role of prophets as God’s instruments for the liberation and protection of His people. Similarly, Jericho was cursed by one prophet, then delivered and purified by another. When God wants to act on behalf of His people, He always uses prophets.
WHO IS THE PROPHET ELISHA?
Elisha (whose name means "God saves") is a biblical prophet of the 9th century BC, primarily known as the disciple and direct successor of the prophet Elijah. His story is recounted in the Second Book of Kings in the Old Testament. Before his calling, Elisha was a prosperous farmer. He asked for and received from his master Elijah a double portion of the Holy Spirit. His ministry lasted approximately sixty years, spanning the reigns of several kings of Israel.
Elisha is famous for performing many miracles, often considered foreshadowings of those of Jesus: for example, he healed the Syrian general Naaman of leprosy by asking him to bathe seven times in the Jordan River; he raised the Shunammite woman's son from the dead; he multiplied a widow's oil to pay off her debts; and he fed one hundred people with only twenty barley loaves. He made the head of an axe that had fallen into the water float and purified the polluted springs of Jericho.
IN WHICH CITY DID THE PROPHET ELISHA LIVE?
The Bible does not indicate a fixed place of residence for the prophet Elisha, as he was an itinerant prophet, meaning he traveled from city to city. However, several biblical locations are associated with his ministry and life:
ABEL MEHOLAH: This was his birthplace and likely his home before his call to the prophetic ministry and his commitment to his spiritual father, the prophet Elijah. He worked there as a farmer, cultivating his land. This place was located north of the Jordan Valley.
MOUNT CARMEL: Before settling in Samaria, Elisha spent some time on Mount Carmel, following in his master's footsteps. Mount Carmel was a place of spiritual retreat for him.
SAMARI: This city was the capital of the northern kingdom. It became Elisha's main residence and the center of his ministry. He later settled there and carried out much of his public ministry as an advisor to the kings of Israel. Biblical tradition indicates that he died there and that his tomb was located in the city of Samaria.
SUNEM: He regularly visited this village, located near the Jezreel Valley, where a Shunammite woman had hosted him during his many travels.
DOTHAN: Elisha owned a house in Dothan or stayed there frequently; he was besieged there by the Syrian army.
WHAT IS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE CITY OF JERICHO AND ELISHEA?
The connection between Jericho and Elisha lies in the succession to Elijah. This event links Elisha to the city of Jericho, as he followed his master to receive a portion of his anointing. According to the biblical account, Jericho was one of the last stops on Elijah's journey before his ascension to heaven. It was there that the "sons of the prophets" (the disciples) recognized that Elisha had received the spirit of his master after witnessing him part the waters of the Jordan.
BIBLICAL CONTEXT THAT LED THE PROPHET ELISHA TO JERICHO:
Here are the key elements of the biblical context (detailed in 2 Kings 2):First, the prophet Elisha is in Jericho as part of a spiritual and symbolic journey marking the transition of power after the departure of his master, the prophet Elijah.
ELIJI'S FINAL JOURNEY:
During Elijah's final journey, Elisha faithfully accompanied him on his "farewell journey," in accordance with the Lord's command. This journey took them successively to Gilgal, Bethel, and then Jericho. At each stop, Elijah asked his disciple to stay, but Elisha categorically refused to leave him.
THE COMMUNITY OF PROPHETS:
In Jericho, Elisha met a community of prophets (sons of prophets) who informed him of his master's imminent ascension. They too were prophets; therefore, they knew that Elijah would be taken up to heaven. This place thus became a rallying point and a witness for the disciples of that time.
THE SUCCESSION AND RETURN OF ELISHA:
After witnessing Elijah's ascension in a whirlwind, Elisha took over from his master and followed the same path, crossing the Jordan River and returning to Jericho. There, the sons of the prophets recognized his authority and declared, "The spirit of Elijah rests upon Elisha."
THE PURIFICATION OF THE WATERS OF JERICHO:
Elisha arrived in Jericho and, once settled, as it is written, the community of prophets in the city (the sons of the prophets) recognized him as the prophet and successor of Elijah. The inhabitants came to him with their problems, praying to him, as a prophet, to bring the solution in the name of the Most High God. He then performed his first public miracle by purifying the local spring with salt, thus lifting a curse that had rendered the land barren and the water unhealthy.
BIBLICAL CONTEXT OF THIS CHALLENGE:
After Elijah, the spiritual father and mentor of the prophet Elisha, ascended to heaven, Elisha stayed in Jericho for at least three days before continuing his journey to Bethel. The inhabitants came to him, facing a serious problem: although the city was ideally located, the water was "bad" (unhealthy or bitter) and rendered the land barren, preventing any harvest.
THE PROPHET ELISHA'S ACTION:
Faced with this terrible ordeal, which required divine intervention, the prophet Elisha began with a very traditional request: a bowl of fresh salt. He then searched for the source of the water, because to solve a problem, one must address its source. He threw the salt into the spring, uttering powerful prophetic words. Thus, the curse was lifted, and the water became pure and drinkable.
It is therefore understandable that, even though this curse had lasted for centuries, like everything else, it had a beginning and an end. The scourge that weighed upon Jericho had an expiration date, and it took a true prophet, anointed by the Lord, to rise up and defy this territorial curse by attacking its source, neutralizing the spirits that controlled it, and prophetically declaring that the water was purified, thus allowing life and prosperity to return to the city.
PROPHETIC PURIFICATION PROCEDURE:
To purify the spring, Elisha proceeded as follows:
STEP 1: HE ASKED FOR A BOWL OF SALT:
THE SYMBOLISM OF SALT:
In the Bible, among the Jews, and in the Law of Moses, salt is a traditional product used in cooking, traditional medicine, and Jewish spirituality. It held great importance, to the point of being a staple in every household, and it often symbolises preservation, purification, and the eternal covenant.
STEP 2: HE WENT TO THE SPRING:
He then sought the source of the water, because to solve a problem, one must address its root cause. It is from this source that all the misfortunes that befall the city originate.
STEP 3: HE THROW THE SALT INTO THE SPRING:
At this moment, the salt becomes the point of contact and a catalyst for the transmission of divine power. The salt comes into direct contact with the spring water, thus neutralizing any invisible and spiritual element that rendered it unfit for consumption. This is what charismatic Christians call a prophetic act.
STEP 4: PROPHETIC DECLARATION:
Final step. He then uttered a prophetic word: “I have purified this water; from now on, neither death nor barrenness will come from it.”
NOTE: True prophets are deeply spiritual people, and when they speak a word concerning a country, a city, a nation, a people, or an individual, its effect is immediate, for they are often commissioned by Heaven to act as God on earth, thus holding the power to open or close a territory. Jesus said to Peter, “I have given you authority; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven.” This is a prophetic dimension; true prophets often operate in this dimension.
INSTANT RESULTS:
The Bible states that the water became drinkable from that moment on and remains so “to this day.”
SPIRITUAL MEANING:
This act of purifying the spring of water in Jericho symbolizes the lifting of an ancient curse that had weighed upon the city. Spiritually, the purification of the spring symbolizes the restoration of the city's soul by the power of God, transforming what is bitter or dead into a source of life.
This is what the Church in Manchester must do, for the soul of this city is dead and bitter; many are still prisoners of Satan and must be set free and brought back to life. And the sacrifices and the price we pay to establish the kingdom of God in Manchester will become the legacy of future generations. For we are like the prophet Elijah, who foreshadows the other prophets God has chosen for the coming revival. Through our prayers, Manchester is entering a new phase of this revival. The fire is already burning in the city, and we are ready.
SPECIAL REVELATION FOR THE CITY OF MANCHESTER!
Prophecy concerning the city of Manchester: I want to say first and foremost that if you are a leader, a pioneer, or a fervent advocate of spiritual revival in Manchester, or if you are working for the deliverance and revival of this city, take this very seriously and make it a subject of prayer in your church, your ministry, and your personal prayer life. For this message is addressed to the entire body of Christ in Manchester.
A SATANIC SYSTEM MUST BE DESTROYED:
While I was praying for spiritual revival in Manchester, the Spirit of God opened my eyes, and I saw that Manchester was plunged into darkness and that a giant serpent had swallowed a large part of the population into its immense belly. The Spirit of God then revealed to me that all those inside the serpent's belly were lost, manipulated, and controlled by it. The giant serpent represents the demonic principality of Manchester.
It was then that the Spirit of God led me to discover the existence of an evil and occult system, unknown to many, based on witchcraft and Satanism, established for many years in Manchester to fight and stifle the true servants of God, the true ministries and churches, to divert true believers to churches run by witches, and to extinguish the fire of prayer and true revival in this city. This system pursues three main objectives:
1. THE ELITES AND PIONEERS ARE THE TARGET:
The devil's primary objective in this city is to attack the true servants, all those who bear the burden of the city's liberation and who are the catalysts for Manchester's renewal. He knew that true renewal could never occur unless the true servants and children of God rose up to pray, evangelize, and fight against the forces of evil.
That is why their primary objective is to target the leaders and pioneers of this renewal first and foremost. That is why a perverse system has been put in place to demonize the true men of God, destroy them, neutralize them, and isolate them, thus rendering them incapable of fulfilling their mission in the city and preventing Manchester from experiencing true deliverance. For if the city is spiritually liberated, many will be converted, true renewal will take place, the works of the devil will be destroyed and exposed, and the true churches will be filled with converts.
2. CONTROL, MANIPULATION, AND IMPRISONMENT OF SOULS:
The second objective of this system is to control, manipulate, and spiritually imprison the souls of this city, spreading darkness over every house, every neighborhood, every street, and every person who lives there, plunging people into darkness and spiritual blindness so that they will never be free to worship and serve the true God. As a result, many are prisoners, their souls held hostage and enslaved by the devil.
3. NO TRUE CHURCH OR MINISTRY CAN BE ESTABLISHED IN MANCHESTER:
The third objective of this satanic system, implemented by the witches of each local community in Manchester, was a pact made between the devil's agents and the devil himself. This pact stipulated that no true church could be established in Manchester and that no man truly anointed by God could establish a stable ministry there. Unless you agreed to make a pact with the devil, they left you in peace.
GOD'S WRATH AGAINST THE WICKED OF THE CITY:
In the second phase of the vision and this revelation, I saw a great white throne rise and a great tribunal established to judge the city of Manchester. This great tribunal was instituted through the prayers of the true saints and true children of God, whose souls had pleaded for vengeance and retribution against the wicked of the city for decades, for they had suffered greatly, and their prayers rose to the throne of God in heaven.
And God was furious with the groups of evil people, the witches, and the Satanists who work to harm His children and His Church. And the order was given from heaven to the most powerful beings to come to the aid of the saints living in Manchester. And now, in this city, we will see the works of the devil exposed, overturned, and destroyed, ministries and lives restored, and a true revival established in Manchester.
MANCHESTER, AWAKEN AND SHINE!
This is what the Lord says about you, Manchester: Just as Jericho was delivered, cleansed, and its curse lifted after centuries by the prophet Elisha, so I, following his example, arise in this city and declare in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ: the reign of darkness is over you, Manchester. From now on, your light will shine, according to God's plan. He will work through you to illuminate England and influence the cities of Europe so that they may experience a powerful spiritual revival. Churches will flourish, broken families will be restored, prisoners will be set free, lives will be saved, and destroyed ministries will be rebuilt. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
PROPHETIC POETRY ABOUT MANCHESTER!
Manchester, city steeped in history, you who forged the steel of the Industrial Revolution and wove the world's cotton in the 18th century, hear the voice of your prophet, "FIRMAMENT," rising above your red bricks!
Manchester, you who have known the pain of revolution and the smoke of industrialization, may your prayers no longer be empty smoke before the throne of God, but a symphony of fire that will set your streets ablaze with a powerful spiritual awakening.
Manchester, "Rainy City," may your rains never again be a burden, but a constant baptism of fire that washes away the curse of the past and brings forth a glorious future for the Lord's Church.
Manchester, your streets were built on the sweat, ingenuity, and powerful rebirths of the past. Today, do not let your heart harden beneath the concrete of your streets.
Manchester, city of influence, just as your cotton was exported to the four corners of the world in the 18th century, now your fire will ignite all of Europe, cross oceans to reach the lost souls of the earth, in the name of Jesus.
Manchester, awaken, city of the North! Your heritage is not of the past; it is in your hands today. May the fire of renewal descend once more upon your streets and may your souls be saved in the name of Jesus Christ.
Manchester, free the souls you have swallowed up, free the lives you have buried in Piccadilly Gardens, restore to the Church its glory and dignity, for a city is not measured by the height of its skyscrapers (Deansgate), but by its relationship with God.
Manchester, may the red and blue of your stadiums, always packed to capacity, not divide the brothers, but unite the body of Christ in Manchester. To you, young people, may your universities not be mere cradles of dreams, and may knowledge not become an object of pride, but a source of living water to quench your thirst for God and distinguish you in this generation.
